A New Chapter | Northbridge University, The Collective Vision Behind

In industries shaped by beauty, fashion, and innovation, transformation is never superficial. True reinvention is intentional, rooted in purpose and guided by vision. That same philosophy defines the evolution of Northbridge University, formerly NUC University – Florida Technical College, as the institution enters a new chapter of growth and national relevance.

What was once Florida’s best-kept secret is now available nationwide. Today, Northbridge University offers expansive academic pathways, from technical and associate degrees to bachelor’s and doctoral programs, delivered on campus, online, and through hybrid formats. Instruction is offered in both English and Spanish, supporting careers across construction trades, nursing, aviation, technology, and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence. All are housed within one trusted academic ecosystem, built on more than 50 years of experience serving students and communities.

This evolution reflects a collective vision shaped by leadership, long-term strategy, and decades of workforce impact. Designed to communicate scale and forward momentum, the Northbridge identity aligns the institution’s expanding footprint with its sharpened focus on workforce-aligned education.

Stewarding this next phase are Michael Bannett, Chief Executive Officer; Dr. James Michael Burkett, President; and Gonçal Bonmatí, Chief Strategy Officer. Together, they are building upon a legacy of academic excellence and community engagement, ensuring the university’s identity reflects both where it has been and where it is headed.

“The transition to Northbridge University aligns the institution’s identity with the scale of its academic offerings, its multi-state footprint, and its role as a trusted partner in advancing student success and workforce-aligned outcomes,” said Bannett.

Bonmatí emphasizes the discipline behind the transition. “This evolution is designed to support long-term growth while building on the institution’s history as a unified university with an expanding national presence,” he said.

Northbridge University’s roots remain deeply embedded in community impact. Over the past five decades, the institution has built trusted partnerships and served as an official education partner to major professional sports organizations, including the NBA’s Orlando Magic, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays.

“Northbridge University is not a departure from who we have been; it is a clear articulation of who we have become,” said Burkett. “This unified identity reinforces our long-term strategic direction.”

The Northbridge identity represents refinement, not reinvention. Today, the institution operates 8 campuses across Florida, 19 in Puerto Rico, and 3 in Oregon through Hillsboro Aero Academy, while serving students in more than 40 states through online learning modalities.

In a world where success is defined by adaptability and purpose, Northbridge University signals readiness, ready to empower a diverse, bilingual student population and confident that, like true style, empowerment always comes from within.

The rebranding event was held recently at the Orlando Science Museum, drawing an influential mix of civic leadership, industry executives and media for a festive unveiling of the institution’s next era. The experience was planned by Eleven 11 Communications and emceed by top model and entrepreneur Omayra La Bella. prestige, purpose and vision.
